I could literally scream about how happy I am with Debbie & Don's wedding images. It's not too often that I get to do a lot of outdoor shots at weddings. But Debbie & Don's wedding day was just too beautiful and I had to get them outside. And the results are AH-MAZING!
Debbie & Don were married April 4th at Infantry Chapel on Ft.Benning, which might I add Keith & I were married there in November of 2004...so this chapel of course is special to me! Their wedding was full of traditions from Debbie's 3 garters, yes 3...one of which she received 20 years ago when she pledged her sorority. It can only be worn twice-at initiation & your wedding day! They also incorporated the patterns from their heritage into her bouquet (florals were beautiful red tulips & white roses) & decor, she had two pins on her crinoline, her grandmother's jewlery, a sixpence in her shoe, a traditional bagpipe player during the ceremony, & Don wore his very dapper military uniform (dress mess) which was covered in metals! The reception was held at the Officer's Club nearby, and when we arrived it was filled with their family & friends! At the reception they even cut the cake with a saber!!! I loved it!
I have so many favs from their wedding so I tried to narrow it down below...
The image on the program was designed by a local artist! I think the image I captured of the church matches perfectly!!
I LOVED that they had a saber arch after the ceremony! For those who don't know...Tradition dictates that as the bride and groom pass through the arch, the last two bearers drop their sabers or swords, forming a cross to block the path of the couple. The groom then kisses his bride. The crossed swords are raised for the couple to pass through. The bearer on the bride's side, as she passes by, gently swats the bride on the back side and says "Welcome to the Army, Ma'am."
It was so cute!Click HERE for the slideshow!
