Tasha & John {Family}

My Tasha has left me. Yup, the new husband of hers took her to DC! So before they left, we did one last family portrait session at Lake Bottom. Belle looooooved this choice, but to all you parents...it's torture for a child! To tell them "stay still and smile" while hundreds of kids are running and playing...good luck! lol

So we let Belle dictate where the photos would be. I mean honestly, did we have a choice? lol! Belle made very wise choices though I must say. You can't go wrong with swings, slides, & monkey bars!

Even though this was their last session in Columbus *hopefully* I'll be able to go to DC and shoot their first session there one day! :)

Tasha & John (& Belle), I miss you already! Good luck in DC!

Jena & Ryan {Wedding}

Jena & Ryan had an extremely beautiful wedding at Fountainview Mansion!

The morning started with a bridal breakfast! Jena bought the girls matching leopard print robes (which I so want) and they all looked so cute having breakfast in them! Fountainview provided a beautiful spread for the ladies.

After everyone was dressed and ready we led Jena out to see Ryan for the first time.
I am always so happy when couples see each other before the ceremony because not only it is a huge time saver, but we end up with a lot more pictures!

With his back turned, Jena walked up to Ryan and when they turned around to see each other, it was truly a special moment. I find this is even more special and intimate than seeing each other during the ceremony...because it's just the two of you! It was very sweet to say the least.

After the formal pictures and the gorgeous outdoor ceremony, the reception started with music provided by a band called Brookwood Split. Everyone was having a great time dancing, talking, and eating!

Congrats Jena & Ryan! You are beautiful people inside and out! I am so thankful I was able to capture these memories for you! I wish both the very best!

I LOVE all of these!! The sky...OMG!!

Isn't she beautiful? The one on the right is just so classic to me!

Today is Keith & I's 5 year anniversary! It's hard to believe how fast time flies! This day 5 years ago we were celebrating with our family & friends, honeymooning across Italy, and just starting our life together.

Jamie & Greg {Engagement Session}

I am SO excited to share Jamie & Greg's engagement session with you all! I've known Greg since he was a kid because his older brother & I have been good friends for years. His brother was even a groomsmen in our wedding, so you can basically say they are family friends. It's crazy to see him all grown up & getting married now...and I am truly happy for them.

They chose the Columbus Museum for their engagement session and the images came out great! :) I look forward to their wedding this Sunday!!

Thalia & Jerod {Engagement}

Thalia & Jerod chose the fabulous uptown Columbus for their engagement session. I love shooting in uptown Columbus! I think it's just all the old buildings and being near the river that make such a great backdrop for photos!

Thalia had a surprise for me...the top of the parking deck! I never even thought about going up there! It has amazing views of the river and the city...I was smitten!

Here are some of my favs from their engagement session:

Julia & Eric {Engagement}

Julia & Eric were referred to be me by a mutual friend. And I was thrilled to meet them! They are such a good looking couple. And Julia's hair...I want it! Now please! :)

I love shooting engagement sessions because (1) you get to know the couple and (2) it's good practice for the wedding day! Although they are getting married in another state and sadly I won't be photographing their wedding (although I do travel *hint hint*), I did enjoy shooting their engagement session!

Keri and Shane {Wedding}

Keri looked gorgeous in her white & red wedding dress with hot red lipstick! A lot of women can't pull off red lipstick, but I think Keri looked fabulous! Her personality is so fun yet down to earth. Shane is a lucky man to have such a truly beautiful person as his new wife!

Scott Sabulsky of Disc Drive Mobile DJs did a great job at the reception getting everyone on the dance floor. If you want a dj that has a way to get every-last-person out of their seat, call Scott! From the cha cha slide to the conga line, everyone clearly had a great time!

These two & so obviously in love and destined for a truly happy life together!

We wish you the best!

Toya & Michael {Wedding}

Toya & Michael were married at Infantry Chapel, the same church Keith & I were married in almost 5 years ago. I was unable to attend or photograph the wedding because the engagement & wedding planning was very last minute (due to Michael being deployed). I have to give Toya major kudos though, she put together a beautiful wedding in a very short period of time. Trying to book photographers & videographers was rough because almost everyone was booked so we were all in a panic...but thankfully Dominica was available to capture their wedding memories!

Toya was a beautiful bride & Michael (aka Solo) cleans up pretty good if I do say so myself! That's the thing about photography, even though I wasn't there physically, as I went through each picture I could imagine what they were feeling and see all the emotions in the images.

Bev & I did make it for about the last 30 minutes of the reception though. My hubby was the best man, and two of other close friends (Vu & Brandel) were groomsmen. So of course there was a table full of familiar faces when we arrived. Michael Soul (DJ for Foxy 105) was doing a great job as usual...if I didn't have my MPC gear on I would've LOVED to join in on the cha cha slide! lol!

The cake...wow...Taylor Mack Fine Cakes did an amazing job on the cakes. The piece I had was chocolate & it was sooooo good! I want a piece right now!

Toya & Solo, we wish you the best! And I ask that everyone says a prayer for Solo as he gets ready to head back to Iraq for the 4th time. We know you'll make it home safe!

2010 Wedding Trends

So I have searched the Internet to bring you a list of the 2010 Wedding Trends! Even though the economy is up & down right now, people are still getting married. However, a tight budget doesn't mean you have to go to the courthouse & skip a reception and honeymoon all together.

So the first trend that wedding experts predict to see more of is homemade favors. It's a must to thank your wedding guests for taking time out of their schedules to come and celebrate your day. Many guests will be traveling, buying gifts, etc and it's a good idea to thank them with a memento from your day. Some ideas include: candy apples, soaps, candles, cookies, jams, or bubble bath.

*image found via google images

The second trend for 2010 is hairpieces for the bride. Whether its a birdcage veil or feathered hairpiece, the old Hollywood glamour look is back! I personally love this look! This is a must for the trendy bride!

*Image found on kimsgiftbaskets.com

Shoes Shoes Shoes! This is one of my favorite topics. I would say this trend has been around for a while but it is going to gain more memento in 2010. Wearing colorful shoes instead of the traditional white wedding shoes. Many brides like to incorporate their wedding color as the color for their shoes to add that pop! Can I just say of the 20 shoes shown below , I want at least 19 of them!

Stylish Wedding Dresses! Gone are the Cinderella styled & long trained dresses of 2009. Experts predict that we are going to be seeing more unique & glamorous wedding dresses. I am so excited about this because some of these new dresses are amazing! I know not everyone will like the new look but I am completely in love!

*images found via google images
Next trend is mismatched bridesmaids dresses. Again, not necessarily something new, but something experts are predicting we will see more of. The main reason this is a great idea is that while you may love the dress you picked out for your bridesmaids, it may not fit everyone's body type. We've all seen dresses that should have been a bit longer, should have had straps for support, covered a bit more. So by choosing a color and letting the girls pick their own dresses, you will not only have happier bridesmaids, but you also allow them to pick something that is appropriate for their body type. One tip though- make sure you let them know how formal it should be and the length it should be. You don't want 3 girls in long formal gowns and 1 in a short spring dress.

Outdoor Weddings. While many people MUST get married in a church, more brides are opting for outdoor weddings in unique locations. Brides are looking high & low for unique locations to get married. I have to say as a photographer, I love this. There is nothing better than natural light! Again this is nothing new...but as said many times before...experts think we will be seeing more of this in 2010. Just be PREPARED. If you think it's going to be cold, arrange for outdoor heatlamps; if you think it's going to rain, have tents and/or umbrellas; if you think it's going to be hot, provide fans, bottled water, or parasols!*image found via diytrade.com

The Sky Lantern. O.M.G. I LOVE this! This is an amazing idea and so unique! The wedding send off trend of the moment is sparklers. Most places have banned rice, birdseed, & confetti so you almost have no choice but to go with sparklers! Well not anymore! Sky Lanterns were invented in China and its an ancient symbol of good luck! For more info click HERE.

*Bonus- they are biodegradable!

Whatever the trend, just make sure your day is how YOU want it, not anyone else! All these are great ideas of what the "experts" say we will see, but again it's your day! Enjoy it!

Nicole & Ryan {Wedding}

Nicole & Ryan were married at Bogle Farms in Greenville, GA. This secluded beauty is a wonderful place for weddings, events, or just camping for the weekend with family.

Nicole & Ryan chose to see each other before the ceremony, which I know you've heard this over & over...but it is SUCH a time saver! By taking all of your images before the ceremony, you can go straight to the reception afterwards and not have your guests waiting!

Beverly assisted me and we were just in awe at how beautiful everything was. From the little details in the reception favors, to the gorgeous non-traditional bridesmaid dresses, the carved pumpkins, and the stunning sunset!

Nicole & Ryan, thank you for choosing MPC Photography to photograph your special day! We enjoyed getting to know you both and wish you nothing but the best! You have an amazing family and we know that you will have a wonderful life together as husband & wife!

Toya & Michael {Engagement}

How long does it take to fall in love and realize you've met the person you want to spend the rest of your life with? You hear all kinds of answers when this question is asked, but the fact of the matter is there is no right answer. Love happens unexpectedly and usually when you're not looking for it.

After 6 months of dating, while Michael was in California, he searched the Internet for the right ring for Toya. When he was sent back to Fort Benning he checked his mailbox to find the package had arrived. Toya called him, anxiously waiting for him to come over. Michael was surprised to see that everyone was there to welcome him home. What better opportunity would he have? So he asked her parents for permission to marry their daughter and the rest is history.

What's so funny about this story is that Michael is friends with my husband and he never even mentioned this to us! We had no idea! And with pending orders to leave for Iraq, they really didn't have much time to plan a wedding. I was already booked for their wedding date but I was able to shoot their engagement session the day before their wedding! Talk about cutting it close! But, my assistant photographer Dominica agreed to document their special day! So pics of their wedding to come soon!

We met in downtown Columbus and walked around from the Trade Center to the Riverwalk. Yes...Toya walked in those stilettos! Don't ask me how!

Here are some of my favs from their engagement session!
